Launch an App

In this guide, we will walk you through the process of provisioning an application. In the guides that follow, we will build on this by attaching a postgresql database, connecting a load balancer, and expose our application via a subdomain.

TIP

This guide is written with specifics for a container application, but the workflow remains the same for serverless, static sites, and servers.

Provision Infrastructure

From the Applications page in Nullstone, click on "Create New Application" button in the upper right.

Nullstone takes a few minutes to launch the infrastructure for your application. Walk through the wizard, selecting repository, framework, stack, and application pattern (container).

Click Save and Launch!

Build application

In the meantime, if you are a deploying your application as a Docker container, you can proceed to build your image. Open a terminal at your repository root and issue the following:

$ docker build -t hello-world .

Deploy using Nullstone CLI

WARNING

You will need to have the Nullstone CLI installed and configured before proceeding. Visit Install/Configure and return when finished.

Verify the application infrastructure is ready with the following command. Press Ctrl+C once the infrastructure status is "provisioned" to terminate this watch command.

$ nullstone status -w node-hello-world default

Now that infrastructure is ready, we can push our image, deploy our application, and watch the status with the following command.

$ nullstone launch --source=hello-world --version=0.1.0 node-hello-world default
